MCCAIN/PALIN TICKET LOSING MORE G.O.P. SUPPORT

lately, a steady stream of conservatives have removed their fingers from the dyke and are hastily sprinting to higher ground.  perhaps, like everyone else, they are watching the polls continue to show a steady, unrelenting uptick for barack obama. or maybe they can actually see the blue tsunami coming and are doing what any sensible human being would do: hunker down and prepare for the aftermath.

in a way that nobody could have foreseen just a few months ago, one by one, stalwart conservatives, like kenneth adelmandavid frum, christopher buckley and colin powell, to name a few, are bailing on the mccain/palin ticket.  at best, they leave in their wake dire warnings, emphatic suggestions and begging pleas to help their party lose - less badly - on november 4th.  at worst, they are simply choosing to support barack obama.

today, among the growing chorus of republican outcries and right-wing panic, another conservative has publicized a clear, message-of-alarm for his party. in spirit, david frum still supports the mccain/palin ticket, but he's now ready to cut losses for the good of the party.

using our words for creative affect, the INKSPOT will convey the essence of frum's sentiments in the format of a telegram:

david frum, neo-conservative thinker, former bush speech writer, author and national review columnist writes, "in these last days before the vote, Republicans need to face some strategic realities. Our resources are limited, and our message is failing. We cannot fight on all fronts. We are cannibalizing races that we must win and probably can win in order to help a national campaign that is almost certainly lost. In these final 10 days, our goal should be: senators first."

the INKSPOT foresees a nasty republican party civil war, replete with vicious finger-pointing, spontaneous cannibalization, circular firing-squads and political blood-baths.  the g.o.p. will be in the political wilderness for some time.

we hope they have plenty of warm clothing, matches and moose jerky.
